What is an annulment?
An annulment, or a decree of nullity, is a declaration on the part of an ecclesiastical tribunal determining whether or not a previously attempted marriage is valid in the eyes of the Church.
An annulment is not...
- a divorce
- a declaration that a civil marriage never took place
- a judgment on the quality of love you had for your spouse
- a judgment on the "legitimacy" of children from that prior bond
How does the process work?
- Feel free to set up a meeting with a priest, and he will be happy to answer your questions and walk you through it.
